Davis says forward is on course for return
Boss Steve Davis says Mathias Pogba is on the road to recovery. The powerful forward suffered a knee injury in the final pre-season friendly against Manchester United just days before the start of the season, and early indications suggested the Guinea international could be out until December.
After missing the back-end of last season, including the JPT Final with a thigh injury, the forward suffered a heavy challenge by United defender Scott Wootton and limped out of action just five days before the start of the new campaign.
Pogba has had surgery on his knee and is in to his rehabilitation with Head Physio Rob Sharp. While Davis says it is too early to put a date on his return, he expects Pogba to be back in contention earlier than previously expected.
Steve told crewealex.net: “He is looking forward to getting back. He will be extremely frustrated with his injury and the timing of it but he has always got a smile on his face. Rob has got a great record of bringing players back early and he is way in to his rehabilitation now.
“It is too early to put a date on a return. It is normally two steps forward one back with an injury like that and it depends on the mentality of the player. Knowing Mathias he will be back earlier than expected.“
