Davis gets set for Gills arrival
Steve Davis says there will be no complacency whatsoever from his Crewe Alexandra team when bottom of the table Gillingham arrive in South Cheshire this weekend.
Martin Allen’s side won the League Two title last season ahead of both Rotherham and Port Vale but they have yet to register a win at the higher level, but Davis is experienced enough to know that Crewe will have to perform to a high standard to record that second win of the season.
Steve anticipates a tough encounter against the Gills this weekend: “Gillingham are struggling at the moment but Martin and his staff will be working hard to put things right.
“They will be looking for that first win on Saturday but we want to be difficult to beat at home and form the basis of our season. We want to win our home games and more up the league table.
“Gillingham won the League Two title last season and much like us when we were promoted, you want to go into the higher league and make an instant impression. Martin will be disappointed with the start they have made but he is a determined character and used to fighting in adversity.
“It will be hurting Martin and everyone at Gillingham but we know that will make it an even tougher game.”
