Have to Last Games Better

19 September 2013

Steve says some of his players finding it hard to get through 90 minutes

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that members of his squad have to last 90 minutes better and that is something he and his coaching staff have addressed. A number of the club’s summer signings and the delay in signing Brad Inman on a permanent deal from Newcastle United resulted in some of the players unable to undertake the club’s closed season work or joining in pre-season later than he manager would have liked.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It has been noticeable that some of the players are finding it difficult to complete the 90 minutes. Some of them are tiring after 70, 75 minutes and that is due to various reasons. Some of them came late, picked up injuries in pre-season or didn’t take part in the summer work we do here.

“There are a few who are struggling to get through at the moment and that can affect concentration levels late in the game. That can be vital and we are on top of that because we cannot afford to carry anybody late in the game.”
