Steve looking to bounce back after Walsall loss at Gresty Road
Steve Davis is looking for his team to get back to winning ways at home against Gillingham tomorrow afternoon after suffering a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Walsall last time out at Gresty Road. The Railwaymen bounced back superbly to record a 1-1 draw at Oldham with Oliver Turton scoring his first senior goal for the club at Boundary Park and the Alex boss is hoping his team take that work ethic into the meeting with Martin Allen’s Gills.
Steve told crewealex.net: “We don’t want to feel like we did against Walsall. We want to be winning our home games and give our fans something to cheer about. We want to build that confidence through winning games and we want to get back to winning our home games.
“I was pleased with the response of the players at Oldham. They put a real shift in and we got a deserved point. I want to take that work ethic into Saturday’s game and I am excited to see how we do against Gillingham.
“Gillingham will be hurting because of the start they have made, but they play with plenty of spirit and will be fighting. We will have to match that endeavour and make sure we put right what we didn’t do against Walsall.”
