Could Re-Visit Loan Market

3 September 2013

Boss says he would consider loan deal when the market re-opens in a week's time

As predicted Steve Davis enjoyed a quiet deadline day and was delighted to have retained his main assets until at least January, when it will all start again!

The Crewe Alexandra boss did all his transfer business early in the pre-season, bringing in five new faces to compensate for the loss of Luke Murphy to Leeds United, as well taking Chuks Aneke on loan from Arsenal.

He has not ruled out revisiting the loan market if needs be though when it reopens again in six days.

Steve said: “You never know what can happen on deadline day. Someone can come out of nowhere either in or out. You can have names thrown at you late in the day and because of our record we are being offered more players aged 21 or under. They can see the benefit of them coming here and playing competitive football.

“I knew a permanent deal was unlikely because we had got in the ones we wanted to, but we can still loan players in after a week’s break. That is something we may consider if we need to. We’ll see what sort of reaction we get from the group but I wouldn’t totally rule out a loan in the future if I think it will improve us.”
