Arsenal loanee says the Alex must take confidence from JPT win.
Crewe Alexandra’s Chuks Aneke admits it was a welcome relief to help the Alex back to winning ways against Accrington Stanley last night.
After a heavy 5-0 defeat against Swindon Town at the weekend, Aneke delivered some much-needed cheer for the Gresty Road faithful with a powerful header 11 minutes from time to send the Alex through to the next round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
The goal was Aneke’s second of his loan spell with the Railwaymen, and Chuks says he just wants to keep making an impact on the team and help the Alex climb up the League One table.
Speaking after the game, Chuks told crewealex.net: “It was good to get a goal and help the team to a win, especially after the result we had against Swindon on Saturday. It was a difficult game because they were difficult to break down. Thankfully Toots has put a great ball in and I’ve managed to get my head on it.
“The gaffer is always telling me to get in the box and I should definitely be scoring my goals with my head, so hopefully this season I can get a few more. I just want to keep providing and scoring goals now. I have managed to get two so far and now I just want to keep helping out.
“Like I said the result against Swindon obviously wasn’t the best, but hopefully we can take some confidence from this result in to the game against Peterborough on Saturday.”
