A Proud Moment For Steve

Boss praise for his goalkeeper as he gets set to make his 600th career appearance

Over a long and successful career in the Football League, the 35-year-old stopper has won promotion with both Bristol Rovers and Crewe Alexandra and helped us lift the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last season.


Phillips began this season out of the side but successfully returned to keep our first clean-sheet of the season against Accrington Stanley in the Football League Trophy competition.



Boss Steve Davis said of Phillips achievement: “It is great for him to reach a landmark of 600 games. It is a great achievement and knowing Steve he will doing his best to add even more to that total.



“Goalkeepers tend to play more consecutive games because there is less risk of injury to that of an outfield player but it is still a tremendous achievement.


“I am sure it will be a proud for him and he should be proud of the fact that he has played so many professional games in the Football League. The older he gets the more he will savour these moments.
