Boss to celebrate his 100th game in charge against the Gills

Steve Davis will celebrate his 100th game in charge of Crewe Alexandra tomorrow and he admits that a really successful period in the club’s history has passed very quickly. Davis has guided the club to promotion via the play-offs and to a first ever Football League Trophy success last season.

It has been quite some transformation in a short space of time and now the former Nantwich Town boss is hoping to stabilise the club in League One.

game milestone, the Alex boss told crewealex.net: “The time has gone really quickly. I didn’t realise that the 100 games had come up and it just goes to show how quickly things can go when you are having fun. thOn his 100

“We have achieved success together but we want to keep on improving and hopefully the next 100 games will be even better. If they are then I would be extremely satisfied because I’ve really enjoyed the challenge.

“When I first took over from Dario there was a real fear that we could be relegated from the Football League and that would have been disastrous for the Football Club and our Academy, so that was the immediate pressure.

“The players, staff and the supporters responded magnificently and we managed to change things around fairly quickly. I still have the same philosophy of Dario which is to play attacking, attractive football but to win games.

“There is a strong infrastructure at the club and that has given me the opportunity to plan for the future and implement my own ideas. Over the next few years I want to do even more and keep on pushing the club to do better.”
