You Learn A Lot

Boss says he is learning about the character of his players in adversity

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he is learning a lot about his playing squad and staff as the club struggle for results in League One. Steve says that the challenges his team are facing after a run of seven league games without a win has been a learning curve for him as a manager in the professional game.

Ahead of this evening’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie at Fleetwood, Steve said: “You do learn a lot about your players and your staff when you are going through a difficult time of things. You can see their character and those who can cope with it and come through it.

“It is a testing time for everyone with the start we have made, but I’m sure we will come through it if we stick together and stay positive. You cannot afford to allow negativity to creep in, you have to show character and remain positive.

“I have learnt a lot in the last four or five weeks and to be fair to them the place has remained positive and bubbly. They have to keep going in that mind-set and we will keep on working hard until we turn it around.”
