Turton Is Improving

Coaching staff pleased with youngsters progress

Steve Davis has praised the improvement of his midfield player Oliver Turton, as the Altrincham-based youngster begins to establish himself in the starting line-up in a midfield three. Davis has challenged the hard working midfielder to keep improving and learning his trade in League One and has been pleased with his recent contribution.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I have had a chat with Ollie and just told him to keep improving. We want to him to be that little bit better with every game and I think he is doing that. He is still young and he is still learning his trade at this level but he has been doing well lately and we are pleased with him.

“We want him to get forward and score goals. If he wants to be a regular in the team in this system it is important he gets forward and supports the attack. He had a couple of efforts on Saturday and that is that we want from him.

“He has a bit more licence to get forward than the other two in there but he also has to be disciplined with his defending. I thought he tired a bit with 20 minutes to go so that is something he has got to work on because it is going to be hard for him playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday.

“I am sure he will come through that and we have been pleased with his progress.”
