Steve On Loan Signing Evans

29 October 2013

Gaffer hoping City youngster will lift his squad

Steve Davis is hoping that his latest loan signing George Evans will provide the same impact that the likes of Lauri Dalle Valle, Chuks Aneke and Brad Inman had last season. The Manchester City Under-21 starlet, who has appeared on the substitutes’ bench for the first-team in the UEFA Champions League for an away trip to Ajax Amsterdam, has joined on a three-month loan deal and is expected to be involved against Bradford City on Saturday.

On the England youth International, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “George was eager to get out and play some games. He is a determined and ambitious young man and very mature for his age. He has had a good grounding from his family and from being at Manchester City for a long time and you see how driven he is.

“He is a good player. We have watched him for the Under-21s and I’ve spoken to three members of the City staff about him and what he can offer us. He is a good side, competes and it technically good on the ball.

“We’ll see how he does this week before deciding if we are going to throw him straight in against Bradford.

“We think he will offer us something better in midfield and hopefully he will give others a boost. He may help those in the team with his performances and in another way, he may spur those not in the team to perform better to get back in.

He added: “It worked well last season with Lauri Dalle Valle, Brad Inman and Chuks Aneke coming in on loan. They gave everyone a lift and it worked out well and we are hoping for the same sort of reaction from signing George.”
