Gaffer gives us his reaction from Deepdale after fine 2-0 win
Steve Davis has told the club's official web-site of his delight for his hard working side after they registered their first away win of the season with an excellent 2-0 win at Preston North End. Crewe picked up a much needed three points thanks to superb strikes from Byron Moore and Brad Inman. After a superb 2-0 win at Deepdale, Davis said: "Everyone has worked really hard for that and I'm delighted with them and for them. I have been saying for the last few weeks that our performances have been reasonably good although we haven't had the results. The results have been awful, and the mistakes we have made have been awful but in between has been decent.
"Now we have to use this win and not get too carried away. We have got a great away win here against a good Preston side and we need this to act as a step forward. This is the first of a block of ten games and this is the perfect start. Now we have to take real confidence from this and take it forward.
"We changed the system and practiced it during the week so for it to come off was very pleasing. We had to settle into it a bit and we had a bit of luck in the opening few minutes when they have hit the crossbar, but we have managed to get that first goal and that has given something to fight for. We talked about that at half-time, about getting through the second half and could we get that second goal.
"They were both fantastic finishes from Byron and Brad and we could have had a third when Duggy's effort hit the bar as well. They have transferred what we did out on the training ground into the game and that is all you can ask.
He added: "The away fans were fantastic. They were behind us and they were behind us at Fleetwood on Tuesday night as well. They remained behind then to clap the players after we had been beaten 4-0 and that speaks volumes of their support. They are the die hard fans who are there every week, they are red through and through and I'm sure we will all have a better weekend."
