Searching For Right Blend

Neil Baker says we are still looking for the right combinations

Neil Baker admits that the club’s coaching staff have to find their best eleven and quickly. The club’s assistant manager admitted that we are still searching for the right blend and right combinations after strengthening our squad in the summer.

In the wake of Luke Murphy signing for Leeds United and the likes of Andy White, Brendan Daniels, Harry Clayton and Paris Bateman not being offered new contracts, Steve Davis added five new players to the ranks and re-signed Chuks Aneke on loan from Arsenal.

As the coaching staff prepare for this weekend’s trip to Preston North End, Neil told us: “We have to find that consistency because at the moment we have players who have been inconsistent. They have struggled to play well week-in, week-out and individual errors have cost us.

“Steve has already gone on record to suggest that we have a strong group and we do. The squad is very good and is the strongest group we have had for a long time. We are not carrying anyone and I think only Billy Waters, Ben Garratt and the injured Pogs are the only ones who haven’t had a chance to play this season.

“There is not much between them and it is up to us to find that right blend and then that consistency.”
