Manager Steve Davis says club stepping up future planning
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he has held early provisional talks with club chairman John Bowler about the possibility of rewarding players’ new contracts heading into 2014. The Alex boss and his staff are always forward thinking when it comes to shaping their squad and Davis is hoping he can tie up the players he wants to longer deals to move forward.
The Crewe Alexandra boss told crewealex.net: “I have begun discussions with the chairman about offering some contracts heading into Christmas and the New Year.
“We have outlined what everyone’s situation is and talked about who we may want to reward for their progress. Others we will wait until the end of the season about.
He added: “The club is always thinking ahead and always re-evaluating the situation. We have had a couple of meetings and will be doing that again over the next few weeks. It is always important to look ahead and assess what we might need. “
