Mixed Bag From Audel

2 October 2013

Gaffer gives us his verdict on debutant Thierry

Steve Davis says that in the absence of the injured Matt Tootle, Frenchman Thierry Audel deserved his opportunity to show what he could do against Gillingham last weekend. The 26-year-old was handed his debut against the Gills and had a mixed afternoon like the rest of his team-mates, with no-one playing to their full potential in the 3-0 defeat.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “Thierry was okay. When you watch the DVD back, he did some good things and some not so good but the majority of them were the same. He got caught in possession a few times and made some wrong decisions.

“He was rash in some tackles and it was a mixed bag from him. There was good and bad in regards to all of them.

“He suffered with cramp towards the end and struggled to get through the game, he knows that isn’t acceptable because we had made the three substitutes and needed him. We had to move him into midfield and put Ollie Turton at right back because I didn’t want him up against a winger.

“He has to step up his work so he can last the games better.”
