Anthony Grant on the boost three points at Preston has had on the dressing room
Alex midfielder Anthony Grant says he felt relieved after the final whistle went at Deepdale on Saturday because it meant that the club had picked up three valuable points after working hard to put things right.
Grant, 26, was quick to point out that the previous two performances at Notts County and Fleetwood were decent and the dressing room were left shell shocked to be on the receiving end of two 4-0 defeats after dominating much of the play.
Grant produced his best performance in a Crewe shirt at Deepdale at the weekend and the former Southend man says there is more to come from him after missed the pre-season work.
“I feel relieved after Saturday because we have been working hard in training, but results haven't been the best. Everyone is behind the gaffer and we have been trying to push on together and it finally worked. The fans were our 12th man and they pushed us on at Preston.
“It meant a lot to everyone. The vibe in the dressing room in the last few weeks has been a lot better. We were disappointed after Notts County and Fleetwood because we felt we played well but couldn't score. After Preston the vibe is even better.
“I am finding my feet, the gaffer pulled me out of the team because he said I wasn’t fit enough and fair play, I didn't have a proper pre-season. I've been working hard, he has given me my chance and hopefully we are reaping the rewards. It is hard adapting but everyone has helped me.
Granty added: “With the football we have been playing and how we are in the dressing room I think we can get a result. We always believe in our ability and we trust each other.”
