Boss targets Cup win to kick start our season
Steve Davis says his relentless pursuit of improvement will continue until we turn around our season. The Alex boss was encouraged by Saturday’s overall performance against Notts County last weekend but knows we have to improve in both penalty areas if we are to move away from the bottom places.
Ahead of our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie at Fleetwood, Steve told us: “We will all continue to work hard to turn things around. I cannot fault the players for their effort or determination to do just that.
“We have been saying that for several weeks now and when you have a run of defeats you are looking for that win that can change things around for you. Gillingham hadn’t won all season they then beat us and then won again on Saturday. They got themselves going.
“The performance was better by us at Notts County but the result didn’t go with it. I will keep giving them opportunities until we discover that winning formula and if we can get a good result at Fleetwood then it could help to get us going.
“I will put a decent side out and we will be going to look to win it. We go into every game trying to win and get that winning mentality going again.”
