Davis confirms arrival imminent

Crewe boss Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that the Alex are on the verge of signing a young Premier League midfielder on loan.

The player in question travelled with the Alex squad to Sheffield United yesterday and watched on as the Railwaymen went down to a 3-1 defeat at Bramall Lane.

Speaking after the game, Davis confirmed a deal is a close. Steve told crewealex.net: "We are nearly there with a loan signing. He is a young lad that has played for the England youth team. He is the captain of the U21 side at his club and plays just in front of the back four.

"He is a good size and can manipulate the ball well. We want to give him some experience of first-team football. He can play the way we want to play and will hopefully make a difference for us."
