Steve hoping to add quality ahead of Sheffield visit

Crewe Alexandra is hoping to tie up a loan move in time for tomorrow’s trip to Bramall Lane. Crewe boss Steve Davis has revealed that he is in advanced talks with a young player in the hope of getting the paper work through for him to be involved against Sheffield United.

The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “We have been working hard on trying to bring someone in and spent all of Wednesday ringing around and seeing who might be available.

“We want to bring in some more quality and we are hoping that we can conclude it today. It might be that he meets up with us tomorrow. That can sometimes be for the best. You introduce him to the team and then he is right into the nitty gritty of competitive football.

Steve added: “We only want players here who will improve us and we think this young player will. He is a development player but is hungry to do well and wants to play some competitive games.”
