Steve Davis looking for vast improvement

Steve Davis says that Notts County will be an extremely dangerous opponent at their Meadow Lane Stadium, as they look to move away from the bottom four. Only Sheffield United are below them in the table but a win for Chris Kiwomya’s side would see them leapfrog over Crewe Alexandra.

A positive 3-0 win for Gillingham over Crewe last weekend saw Martin Allen’s side move out of the bottom four and although the league standings are still very early, Davis wants our indifferent start to the season to improve as soon as possible.

“We have gone over the reports of Notts County and they have some good players, ‘he said. “We will plan accordingly but we have got to be better in what we do.

“We have to be careful because like Gillingham on Saturday they will be doing everything they could to get a result. They worked harder than us and we cannot afford to do that again. We have to match their work ethic because they will be wanting to turn their season around, as much as we will.

“They have made a similar start to us and they will be disappointed to be in the bottom places at the moment after the investment they have made and the players they have. They are a big club in our division and Chris will be looking to turn things around.

“It isn’t a six-pointer or anything like that because there is still a long way to go but it is one we want to win and we can win. We will go there in a positive frame of mind and give it our all.”
