Alex boss hoping a Derby win would provide catalyst for better

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he is hoping a positive result against our near neighbours Port Vale this weekend can provide the catalyst for a mini-run that could see Crewe away from the bottom four. Micky Adams’ side have adjusted well to life back in League One and come into the first derby of the season in better form having won four of their last five games.

The Alex boss is hoping that a moral boosting win over our neighbours in the Staffordshire/Cheshire derby will ignite our season and provide the turning point.

Ahead of the local derby this weekend, Steve said: “The League is still very tight and a couple of wins can see you out of the bottom four and looking upwards rather downwards.

“There are the teams at the top that have made a tremendous start such as Orient, Wolves and Peterborough and Brentford have been on a great run of late. They are clubs building for the Championship and we are in a different sector to that at the moment.

“It can change around very quickly and a win in a massive game like a local derby can provide that moment of change. A good performance and a good result in that game could get us going again. A positive result on Saturday would certainly give us a massive lift, a confidence boost and then it is up to us to build on that.”
