Alex boss says he still has faith in his players to come good

Steve Davis says he hasn’t got enough players on top of their games but he still believes that they have the ability to turn our season around. The Crewe Alexandra boss has shown great faith in his squad and with the exception of young Ben Garratt and Billy Waters he has given everyone a chance to stake their claim as he searches for a consistent side.

The Crewe boss has made changes when necessary but has also stuck with individuals as well when they have made mistakes.

Davis says that this faith cannot last forever if Crewe continue to lose ground in the bottom four and he has already stressed this week that the club are looking for at least one or two reinforcements.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “You have got to believe that the players will come good for you. You have to have faith in the players and I think I’ve done that.

“We just don’t have enough at it at the moment and we need more of them at it. We need to have those fighters amongst us and have more of them. Some of them haven’t shown enough of that when we have gone behind.

“We need to restore some lost confidence and consistency because we have played okay and got a good result and then got battered. It has been a roller coaster of results for us and we have to become more consistent and fight for each other.

He added: “We are in a scrap and it is important we know that. We have got to do something about it now and react. We have time and we have to do it now before it becomes too late.”
