Boss says Abdul Osman will be back to his old self sooner or later
Steve Davis has praised the professionalism of club captain Abdul Osman after he recently lost his place. With the club adding the young Manchester City midfielder George Evans on loan, a change in the middle of the park saw Osman lose his place for the visit of Bradford. Young Evans then partnered Anthony Grant at Wycombe in our FA Cup tie last weekend.
Osman has been a consistent performer for the club over the last two seasons, helping the club win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy alongside previous captain Luke Murphy. With Murphy moving to Leeds United in the summer, Osman was handed the captain’s armband by the manager for this season.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Abdul has been very professional about things. He has been very good and just got on with things and worked hard.
“He is a fighter and will come good again. He has been all right and knows what we expect from him. It has just been a form thing with him and at times he hasn’t done well enough in his individual performance to warrant his place.
“I am not sure why that is. Perhaps it is because he has a new midfield partner with Granty (Anthony Grant) coming in. Abdul was used to playing alongside Murph and they were a good partnership in there.
“Granty is very different to Murph. Granty and Abdul are quite similar in their games. We knew that when we signed him in the summer. I’m sure that when Abdul gets another chance we will see the old Abs. “
