Matt Tootle to have a scan on his foot to assess damage

Crewe Alexandra’s versatile full-back Matt Tootle is to undergo a scan today to assess the full extent of his foot injury. The left-back missed the home clash with Bradford City after suffering the injury in training that week and has not been able to train since.

The club are hoping that the injury to the arch of his foot is not too serious and he will be able to resume training as soon as possible.

Tootle is not expected to travel to London this week to feature against Brentford.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It has been slow with Tootle and we expected him to be back sooner.

“He is still feeling pain in the base of his foot so we have sent him for a scan today to assess the extent of the damage. We thought that pain would have gone by now but it hasn’t and we want to make sure he is right.

“We want to be reassured with him, to make sure it is nothing too serious. He is improving all the time so we don’t think there is anything serious but it will give us and him peace of mind. “
