Boss hints at keeper switch
Steve Davis has hinted that ‘it may be time to give Ben Garratt a chance’. The Crewe Alexandra manager says that the club’s youth England goalkeeper has trained well this week and performed well against Burnley’s Under-21s on Wednesday night.
Garratt was helpless with Burnley’s two goals with the first from Ryan Noble taking a wicked deflection and the last minute winner from Alex Coleman just a stunning strike.
Garratt played the final game of last season and kept a clean against Walsall in a 2-0 win.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Playing Ben is a possibility. He has had a good week in training and was fine on Wednesday. He made some good saves.
“Maybe it is time to give him a go. He deserves a chance and maybe it is time to see he is up for it. He played against Walsall last season and has progressed and improved since then. He is 20 now and this could be his opportunity.”
