Alex boss steps up his search for a proven goalscorer

Steve Davis says the club have stepped their search for a strike and that there could be some positive movement next week ahead of the club’s local derby against Port Vale.

The Alex boss is after a proven goalscorer to come in on loan and be more clinical in-and-around the opposition penalty area. Crewe’s leading scorer is a shared affair at the moment with six players on two goals.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to London, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have had further conservations with managers and agents about certain players and that has been positive and is still on going.

“He wouldn’t be able to play in the FA Cup replay on Tuesday night anyway but with the Vale game coming up on the Saturday, we might try and bring someone in before that.”
