Steve: "Incredibly Disappointing"

Davis on FA Cup Exit

Following a FA Cup Defeat to League Two Wycombe Wanderers, Steve Davis was left bitterly disappointed to be out of the competition.

Davis was left in shock as his players conceded two goals in the second-half against the Chairboys to exit the competition. While he says Wycombe thoroughly deserved the win, he admits he has got plenty of work to do.

Speaking after the game, Steve told crewealex.net: “To go out of the competition without a fight, and without a whimper is incredibly disappointing. There was a bit of effort from the boys but no real quality. It has taken us 32 minutes to have a shot on goal and then we have only had three throughout the game.

“We have got to do better than that. I think that performance is about as low as it can get. There was a low crowd and a quiet atmosphere but we have got to generate an atmosphere and a performance. I have no qualms about the result. Wycombe deserve to be in the next round and we deserve what we got.

“I am the one that has to put this situation right now. I am very disappointed that I have just watched a game that I expected the players to do a lot better in but I have to keep going. The players will be in tomorrow and we will be up in the morning looking to put it right.”
