Steve Davis gives us his post-match reaction from Adams Park
"We could do better and I've told them that afterwards but they deserve credit for not giving them many chances and that is something for us to build on."
"We had done a lot of work in the week on our finishing, and most of the ones we had today were similar to the ones we had practiced in the sessions, so that is disappointing. Chuks had an early header, and then hit one over the top. Max had a good chance in the first half, Vadaine had some blocked and Brad perhaps had the best of the lot right at the death when he shot over.
"Other than that I thought we defended relatively well and look tighter. We didn't give them many chances to win it and I told them at half time that if we don't win it then make sure we don't lose it and they did that and we have another opportunity to get through in the replay. That is the positive we can take from the game, because we defended well. We just needed to finish off some of those chances.
Following a 1-1 draw, the Alex boss told the club's official web-site: "I am happy we are still in it. We are in the draw and we can look forward to that but we had enough changes to have won it on the day. If we had taken some of them like we should have then we could have won by three or four goals and been out of sight. We haven't and I was disappointed with the goal we conceded. The cross came in and the lad has nipped in front of Harry to sent in one of those low headers.
Steve Davis admits that his side certainly created enough chances over 90 minutes to have won this first round FA Cup tie but he is also pleased to have a home replay to look forward to. Crewe took the lead through Anthony Grant but a well placed header from Paris Cowan-Hall before half-time means the two clubs will have to do it all again.
