Have To Convert Chances

11 November 2013

Gafer diasappointed not to have won on the day

Steve Davis says Crewe Alexandra had enough chances to have avoided an FA Cup replay against Wycombe Wanderers, but some wasteful finishing at Adams Park allowed the home side to get back into it and force a draw.

Following the 1-1draw with Gareth Ainsworth’s side, the Crewe boss said: “We did have a lot of chances and on another day if we take them we could have scored three or four goals in the first half. We didn’t and we were disappointed with the goal we conceded.

“It was a very open game in the second half, with attack after attack. We had chances again so I was disappointed not to win it on the day, but we now have an opportunity to finish it off at home.

“We defended much better but we need to score more goals. We need to get that goals for column up.

“There were big moments in the game and we have to score goals. We had a lot of pressure and efforts and we know that we have to get some of them playing better. I thought Max worked tirelessly for the cause and had some good opportunities. Byron kept going and got us up the pitch well.

“We did okay and have another opportunity to get through.”
