Steve Davis says his players have perfect week to bounce back

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis is hoping that a positive result in tonight’s FA Cup replay at Wycombe will be the perfect tonic ahead of this weekend’s local derby. Davis is hoping that his side can finish the job off against Gareth Ainsworth’s side and progress to meet Preston North End in round two at the beginning of next month.

Ahead of our meeting with the Chairboys, Steve said: “It is a big week for us and first up we have a tough replay against Wycombe. We want to get through in the cup and look forward to facing Preston.

“We want to complete the job and it will be a case of rolling our sleeves up and putting maximum effort in to make sure we get through.

“We had enough chances to finish it off down there, but didn’t, so now we have a chance to finish it off and then look forward to the derby at the weekend. It could just be the catalyst we need.”
