Alex to be without young striker after he undergoes surgery on his ankle

Crewe Alexandra Football Club has been dealt a huge blow with the news that young Max Clayton has had to undergo surgery on a fractured left ankle.

  Clayton sustained the injury in the 2-0 defeat to Wycombe in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening and will be fully assessed by the club’s medical department on his return. His surgery was successful. The club have as yet not put a timescale on how long the England youth international will be out of action.
