22 November 2013

Fulham's Neil Etheridge joins on loan until New Year

The deal is subject to final FA and Football League clearance.

Having lined-up for England’s Under-16s, the ‘keeper accepted an invitation to represent the Philippines – his mother’s country of birth – at senior level and can now be considered a seasoned international with over 40 caps.  Having surpassed 150,000 followers on Twitter, Etheridge is somewhat of a national hero.

He has regularly stepped up as the Club’s number two in the absence of either Mark Schwarzer or David Stockdale and more recently Maarten Stekelenburg.  He also made a loan move to Bristol Rovers last season. He made 12 appearances for Rovers before he was recalled by Fulham in November of last year.

Odense BK.against Danish side Etheridge began his youth career with Chelsea before making the short switch to Craven Cottage. At 23 years of age, Etheridge has been on the fringes of the Fulham team for the past few seasons and made his Fulham debut in the 2011/12 season’s UEFA Europa League

Crewe Alexandra have this morning completed the loan signing of Fulham goalkeeper Neil Etheridge. The Filipino shot-stopper has signed on a deal initially running until January 1st and will go straight in to the Alex squad for Saturday’s derby game with Port Vale.
