Chuks Extends Loan

8 November 2013

Aneke signs until the end of the season

Crewe Alexandra is delighted to announce that Chuks Aneke has extended his loan with the club until the end of the season.

The versatile Aneke, 20, has scored two goals in 16 appearances this season and has also been used in a new ‘false number 9’ role this season.

Aneke enjoyed a successful loan spell last season, scoring 8 goals in his 38 appearances and helping the club lift the Football League Trophy for the first time in the club’s history with a 2-0 win over Southend at Wembley.

Aneke has also been granted permission to play for Crewe Alexandra in this season’s FA Cup competition and is in contention for a place for our first round tie at Wycombe tomorrow.

Manager Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “We are delighted that Arsenal has granted us permission to play Chuks in the FA Cup against Wycombe.

“He is an Arsenal player and they have always been extremely helpful to us. The letter and loan extension has come through so that is great news for us going forward.

“They have granted him permission and we are delighted to have him for an extended period as well. There is more to come from Chuks, I am certain of that. We haven’t seen the best of him yet but he always works hard to learn and improve as a player.

“He has shown signs of that improvement in recent week and adds that extra bit of creativity to our play. He fits in nicely to the way we like to play.”
