Boss says it would give everyone a lift to have injured players back
Steve Davis says having the likes of Matt Tootle and Ryan Colclough back from injury for this weekend’s derby encounter against Port Vale would certainly give us a timely lift. Both players are to resume training this week and could yet declare themselves fit and available for the first derby encounter at the Alexandra Stadium.
Tootle has missed the last three matches with a foot injury, but a scan gave him the all-clear last week and the defender has made considerable progress over the last few days.
Ryan Colclough has missed the last weeks of first team games after picking up a hip injury against Accrington Stanley and then aggravating a hamstring muscle on his return to training last week.
Both players are rated as doubts for the visit of the Valiants but the Alex boss says he is looking forward to having two of his consistent performances back and available.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Both Toots and Coco would be in and around the team. Matt was one of our most consistent performances before he was injured and it was the same with Ryan.
“He was our leading scorer at the time after he scored twice against Tranmere and was proving to be a creator of chances. He has been out for a long-time now and it could be a risk to involve him this week. We will continue to assess him and then I’ll decide.
“It would make us stronger if we had some our players back who would be in the team, and I include Pogs in that because he has missed the entire season so far.”
