Gaffer says two good results could change our season around
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says it is ‘important week’ for everyone connected with the club.
Davis and his staff are looking for a positive response from his players, after the Railwaymen were on the receiving end of a 5-0 defeat to Brentford at the weekend.
The Alex have every opportunity to improve confidence with two crucial home games against Wycombe in an FA Cup replay and then local neighbours Port Vale at the weekend.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We stifled Brentford in the first half but that first goal was important for them coming just before half time. They then scored seconds into the second half and it became very difficult for us.
“We got overpowered and overrun and that just isn’t about the back four or five, it includes all of them. After the second goal we got what we have seen before and it has had happened far too often this season.
“We enter an important week for everyone associated with the football club. It affects all of us. Firstly, we want to get through in the FA Cup to face Preston in the next round and then we have the derby at the weekend.
“I want to see a reaction from the players. I will assess the group to see who is up for it and up for the challenge. Hopefully, we will see that improvement and belief because a good week and two good results could be the catalyst for turning our season around.”
