Clayton's young lions miss out on Euros despite comfortable win over Scots

Noel Blake's Under-19 England side failed to qualify from their Elite Group stage and book a place in this summer's European Championships despite remaining unbeaten. They completed their elite group matches with a comfortable 3-0 win over Scotland but with Georgia beating host nation Belgium 2-0 meant they narrowly missed out after recording one win and two draws.

Crewe's Max Clayton who impressed in the mini-tournament, scoring in the 1-1 with Georgia is now waiting to see if he is selected with the Under-20s. He is on the long squad list which will be narrowed down by Stuart Pearce.
