Davis says transfer targets fit the club ethos

Steve Davis says the three players he has targeted to improve his squad as we head into the new season have the right DNA to fit in at the club. Davis and his assistant manager Neil Baker have been working hard behind the scenes to add quality and competition to his established squad.

They have held initial talks with three players, with Davis confirming yesterday that one target is the Aldershot striker Danny Hylton.

Steve told crewealex.net: “The three we have already spoken to are three of many that we have under consideration. We have worked hard to identify the type of player we want and the type of player we can afford.

“We know that we cannot afford established league players coming down from the Championship or from this league. We simply cannot afford them, so we have to look at other avenues such as the non-league and young, ambitious players prepared to come out of the Premier League or Championship.

“They have had a look around and they know what this club is about. We spoke about football, how we can improve, where they play and what we want them to do. Neil met with two of them and showed they around. He was pleased with what we saw.

“We are after those young ambitious players who want to come here and do well. That is the type we want and the DNA is in the three we have targeted so far.”
