Success An Attraction

7 May 2013

Steve says players see a club on the rise

Steve Davis wants to attract the right sort of player to the club this summer and stresses that players are seeing the potential of joining a development club like Crewe Alexandra. The Alex boss says our recent success in gaining promotion into League One and by winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will only add to the attraction for players looking to improve.

Steve, who is after at least three new players this summer, has said: “We have had great success over the last 12 months and that wouldn’t have gone unnoticed with players. They will see what we are trying to achieve and will know what this club is about.

“Our facilities are second to none and it is the best facility I’ve ever trained at during my career as a player and as a manager. We know we cannot match other bigger budgets when it comes to wages, so Crewe is usually not top of the list for agents but what we do offer is a great environment to come and improve.

“We will lose out on a few who are motivated by the finances they can get elsewhere, but if an individual is looking to come in and improve over a couple of seasons then this is the perfect place.

He added: “If they can become better players and go on and get that bigger move then that is fine. We got five lads in last summer, who have done that and made a difference to the squad and there is no reason why we cannot go out and do that again.”
