Steve told crewealex.net: “Sir Alex Ferguson deserves all the accolades and plaudits coming his way because he is the manager everyone aspires to be. The success he has enjoyed and the fact that he has been able to build a club, as well as so many quality teams marks him out as one of the very best.
“We all aspire to have a career with a haul of trophies and medals. It is an inspirational career.
“The great thing about Sir Alex is his winning mentality and his incredible drive for success. He never looked back over the last season and looked only ahead. The past season is gone and he focussed on the coming season and being a success again.
“I try and install that into my players. We have had success over the last 12 months but that is gone now. You enjoy it and move on very quickly.
“I’m sure now that Sir Alex is retired, he will look back over an incredible career and fully appreciate what he has achieved over a long period of time.”
