Relaxed About Murph

Steve Davis says he is open minded about Murphy's future with the club

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he remains opened minded about the future of Luke Murphy.

The club captain has certainly attracted more attention after another consistent season in central midfield, where he scored 9 goals produced double figures in assists and lifted the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Alsager-based youngster was also named the club’s Player-of-Season and was included in the PFA Team of the Year for League One at the recent awards evening in London.

Davis is relaxed about the situation though and says anything can happen in the summer transfer window and has not ruled out his captain remaining with the club into next season.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I am very opened minded about Murph at this stage. I know clubs have watched him and may be interested but we haven’t had any offers. If we do then we will make that decision then.

“Anything can happen in the summer. Westy went to Aston Villa on deadline day, so he started the season with us and played five games, so it can be as late as that.

“It all depends if clubs have the money and what they are looking for. Murph is ready to go and is good enough to play a lot higher but if he remains here then we will look forward to having him with us next year.”
