Leading scorer set to return for pre-season after successful thigh op

Crewe Alexandra’s leading striker from last season, Mathias Pogba is expected to be fit to resume pre-season training at the end of June. Pogba recently underwent a thigh operation in Italy, to heal the torn muscle he sustained against Preston North End on Easter Monday.

Pogba scored 16 goals last season to finish top scorer but he suffered the injury a week before the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final against Southend United.

After being assessed by Crewe’s head physio Rob Sharp, Pogba has returned to Italy to undergo more rehabilitation work with the surgeon who conducted the operation. Crewe return to full training on June 25th.
