Hope We Can Keep Murph

Abdul Osman hopeful that captain Murph will stay this summer

Abdul Osman is hoping that club captain Luke Murphy will remain at Crewe Alexandra this summer to spearhead a possible push for a play-off place. Osman formed a fine partnership with Murphy in the centre of the park last season, as Crewe finished mid-table and Murphy lifted the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley.

Following Ash Westwood’s departure to Aston Villa on deadline day, the two of them complimented each other extremely well with Osman’s work ethic a key component of our midfielder. Now the former Northampton man is hoping that Murphy will stay and be as influential as he was last season.

Osman told Crewe Alex Player: “Murph is a very good player and a great lad as well. He was excellent for us last season and showed what a good player he is.

“It is vital that we try and hold onto him and that he continues to be a part of what we are trying to do here. Of course, everyone would like him to stay because we didn’t think we were that far off making the play-offs last season.

“I think we have a good group here, who can challenge for a top six place if we can push on. Who the manager decides to bring in during the summer, is really up to the manager.”
