Hard Work Starts Now

13 May 2013

Davis on his two young professionals Waters and Nolan

The really hard work starts now for youngsters Billy Waters and Liam Nolan after the two midfielders signed their first professional contracts last week. The two Academy graduates put pen to paper on new one-year deals and boss Steve Davis says telling  young players that they are going to be offered professional terms is the best part of the job.

Steve told crewealex.net: “You sit them down and it's the best part of the job, offering someone their first pro contract. It gives you a lift then you hope they will be quick to sign it because it is the opportunity at this stage rather than the financial aspect of it.

“They've both put pen to paper and we are delighted for them, now they have to make an impression quickly because a year isn't a long time. They have to start strong and show what they have got in pre-season for me to consider them in the season.

“They have to develop, get better. Improve, listen and work hard. This is a reward for their performances in Under-21s.”
