Davis On Wolves Speculation

29 May 2013

Steve only focussed on recruitment drive for the Alex

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his focus has always been on bringing new recruits into the Football Club, finalising his pre-season plans and keeping the players he wants rather than drifting into the world of speculation linking him with the vacant position at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Crewe boss has continuously distanced himself from the job at Molineux and has reiterated that no official approach has been made to the Alex chairman John Bowler. Davis has already spoken to three possible transfer targets and has been working constantly since the end of the season to improve his numbers.

Steve told crewealex.net:  “The speculation has not affected me at me. I’ve kept in contact with John about the situation and what we are planning for the summer and my focus has certainly been on improving the squad here. We have another meeting planned tomorrow to work on that.

“I have been speaking to potential transfer targets and finalising our pre-season tour. We are going to head down to Cornwall for some training in a relaxed environment.

“The speculation is something you have to deal with and there hasn’t been a summer quite like it with all the vacancy’s becoming available. You just have to deal with it because you cannot control it.  There is a lot of rumours and chat and that is part of the game. You just have to carry on with your job.

“I’ve just been in working hard with Neil (Baker) and focussing on getting players to Crewe. We have made good progress with that and hopefully we can conduct some business sooner rather than later with that.”
