Max Clayton narrowly misses out on Peter Taylor's squad for Turkey
Despite some recent superb performances for England’s Under-19 over in Belgium, the Crewe Alexandra striker Max Clayton has missed out on being included in Peter Taylor’s England Under-20 squad for the forthcoming World Cup in Turkey.
Clayton, 18, recently scored in a 1-1 draw with Georgia and featured against the host nation Belgium. Despite winning their final group game 3-0 against rivals Scotland, Noel Blake’s young side missed out on qualifying.
Clayton had made the initial 35-man squad but after Taylor had narrowed that down to 21, Clayton was unfortunate to miss out.
