The 35-year-old has continued to raise cash for Cauldwell Children and Leukaemia Research and is finalising his plans for the Bob Scott/Neil Baker night this coming Friday.

Phillips’ main focus though continues to be on taking part in 50% of the summer sessions and looking forward to the pre-season friendly matches.

The former Bristol man told the club’s official web-site: “I think we have some superb pre-season fixtures and they should be brilliant for the club and the supporters. It gives us something to look forward to already and work towards.

“The fixtures are good, and there are one or two to be added to that as well. Testing ourselves against a team like Aston Villa will be great. We need that level of testing and it will great to see Westy at Gresty Road again.

“We will have some comfortable games to get back into it but you need all types of games so you know where you are in relation to the start of the season.”
