Ben After More

2 May 2013

After having a taste of first-team football, Ben Garratt is hoping for more next season

Young goalkeeper Ben Garratt says making his senior debut on the final day of the season topped off a progressive season. The England Youth International marked his first team debut with a clean-sheet in that 2-0 win over Walsall and now after having a taste of the competitive action, he is after more in the future.

Garratt, 19, told the club’s official web-site:  “It was a great day and making your debut is something you always set out to do. You set yourself targets and to make my debut just topped off a decent season for me.

“I was involved with the squad early on the season and at other times, but to make my debut made all the hard work worthwhile.

“To be involved on the day we played a home-grown team and to keep a clean-sheet as well, it was a proud day for me, the family and for the club. Everyone knows that Crewe as a club is all about bringing young players through.

“Now it is my objective to be involved more and play more games for the first-team. I know that is not going to be busy, because we have two really good goalkeepers here but it is up to me to improve and provide that competition.”
