Bakes: "We Have Three Targets In Mind"

Assistant manager Neil Baker says Crewe have spoken to a couple of potential signings

Neil Baker has told the club’s official web-site that the management have spoken to three possible transfer targets. The club’s assistant manager says that talks are in the infancy stakes, as you expect at this stage of the closed season, but Baker says that the club will be looking to bring in players as soon as possible to get working with them as soon as possible. The current Crewe players are already training twice a week to top up their overall fitness.

Baker told crewealex.net: “It is still relatively slow but we have identified two or three players and spoken to a couple of them. We have opened initial talks but it is not easy because other clubs will be interested in them as well and players waiting to commit.

“We would like to sign them as quickly as possible so we can work with them and introduce them to the group. Ideally you would like them in quickly so you can have them here for pre-season. That is what Steve (Davis) did last season and the way he prefers.

He added: “On the flip side there is the window and you can lose players late. We lost Westy late on deadline day last season, so you have to be mindful of that as well.”
