Baker says club have three in mind to improve squad
Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager Neil Baker has told the club’s official web-site that he has three potential transfer targets lined-up to help improve our playing squad for next season. Baker says that movement at this stage of the pre-season tends to be slow but that work continues to progress behind the scenes.
Manager Steve Davis and Baker hope to conduct some business early, so the squad is mostly formalised before they return to full time training on June 25th.
Baker told the club’s official web-site: “It is fine, it is slow still, which we expect at this time of the year but we have already identified two or three players and hopefully we will be speaking to them.
“We are well and truly in the swing. Steve has always tried to do things early so we have the squad in place and can plan pre-season. It is always good to be able to work with new players as soon as possible.
“On the flip side clubs could still come and take our players and we know how late that can happen.
It happened with Westy (Ash Westwood) last season.”
