Steve says Dugdale's fitness focus will help him

Manager Steve Davis says it will take some time for Adam Dugdale to regain his lost fitness but the Liverpool-born defender is working exceptionally hard to regain in time for when pre-season training starts on a full-time basis on June 29th.

Dugdale was given compassionate leave by the club following the sad death of his new born son Jude, but the popular defender did return towards the end of the season and was named on the substitutes’ bench for the final game of the season against Walsall.

The central defender has been working hard in the summer sessions and his boss says the focus on the work will help him overcome his great loss.

Steve told the club’s official web-site:  “Adam is back and working hard in the sessions. He knows he has some catching up to do and his body has been a bit stiff after the sessions but he has always been a good professional and he will get there.

“His body will be fine and I’m sure he will be ready for when pre-season kicks off. It will be a gradual healing process for him because what happened was a massive shock, but I’m sure focussing on being a footballer will only help him.

“Adam has always been a determined lad and he will be desperate to get back and try to get into the team.”
